This past weekend Buffalo, New York saw a record-breaking storm accumulating 21.5" in just 24 hours, totaling 80" over three days with wind gusts as high as 45 mph. According the mayor of Buffalo, “this has been a very unpredictable storm with snow bands moving, back and forth, north to south." This storm has been stated as being more intense than "Snowvember" when the Buffalo region saw 7.6" of snow in 24-hours back in 2014.  The Great Lakes states (Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York) are not new to this kind of weather, but road closures, power outages and travel restrictions significanlty impacted the 6 million+ residents of the region. Despite an early Winter terrifying storm, the Governor of New York was "proud of how the ulitity crews have stepped up."  According to local weather service reports, this month is already Buffalo's third snowiest November.  A state of emergency was declared for 11 counties after two people were killed, 280 rescued and 1,600 left without power. If this is any indication of what is to come this winter, it is imperative that local and state utility agencies are prepared with proper trucks, vehicles and plows to handle the storm in a timely manner.
